Drought Strikes Daund in Pune Rural; Crops Wither Due to Water Scarcity
Pune, Maharashtra: Drought has dealt a crippling blow to farmers in the Daund taluka of Pune Rural. Standing crops have withered and been destroyed due to a lack of rainfall over the past two months. In Masnarwadi, under the Lingali Gram Panchayat, sugarcane crops have scorched right in the fields. The situation is so dire that even the fodder sown for livestock has been exhausted. Farmers are reporting losses of up to 100 percent and are demanding loan waivers along with government compensation.
