Echoes of Jharkhand Student Protest Reach BHU; Students Observe Fast

The outcry against the lathi-charge on students in Jharkhand has now reached Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi. In solidarity with the protesting students from Jharkhand, BHU students observed a one-day fast and urged the government to seriously consider the students’ demands. They called for a resolution through dialogue regarding issues such as the investigation into alleged exam irregularities, the settlement of exam-related disputes, and the cancellation of the concerned examinations. Abhay Singh, who participated in the hunger strike, warned that if the students’ demands are not met, a protest even larger than the one at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar would be launched.
