Fake currency worth ₹97.91 lakh found in car; police intercept the vehicle!

In a major operation, the Vasai unit of the Crime Branch seized counterfeit Indian currency worth ₹97.91 lakh in Vasai, Palghar (Maharashtra). The police team has arrested one individual in connection with the case. An FIR has been registered against the accused at the Mandvi Police Station, and further investigation is underway. Acting on a tip-off, the police set up a blockade on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway and arrested the accused along with the cash. To apprehend the suspect, the police installed barricades on both sides of the road and began inspecting suspicious vehicles. During this operation, a car driver was spotted attempting to evade the police. His suspicious behavior aroused the officers’ suspicion; they stopped and searched the vehicle, discovering Indian currency inside a bag. Upon inspection, 19,582 counterfeit ₹500 notes were recovered from the bag, with a total face value of ₹97.91 lakh. The detained individual has been identified as Pradeep Atmaram Patil, a resident of Kashidkopar, Mandvi. An FIR has been registered against him at the Mandvi Police Station, and the police have initiated further investigation.
