Landslide Sparks Panic in Mumbai’s Kurla; 2 Dead, Many Feared Trapped

A major incident occurred in Mumbai’s Kurla (West) on Wednesday morning due to heavy rainfall. A landslide struck the Gausia Chawl in Chirag Nagar, leaving several people buried under the debris. Two bodies have been recovered from the rubble. Upon receiving the information, rescue teams—including the BMC—arrived at the site and are engaged in relief operations. Debris fell onto two or three rooms located near the chawl. It is feared that six to eight people may be trapped in the debris. Rescue operations are underway, with personnel from the fire department, police, ambulance services, NDRF, and the BMC present at the scene. The Mumbai Fire Brigade stated that the incident took place at 4:32 AM on Wednesday.
