Former BJP MLA Atar Singh Bhadana beaten to death in Bharatpur; mining dispute claims his life
The killing of former BJP MLA Atar Singh Bhadana in Bayana, Bharatpur district, Rajasthan, has caused a stir. He was allegedly attacked with sticks and stones during a dispute at a crusher plant in Bhaunda village on the evening of October 11. Bhadana succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, while his associate, Gagan Sharma, was also critically injured. Reports indicate that a long-standing dispute had existed between Bhadana and local villagers regarding the crusher plant and a mining lease; villagers had raised objections concerning land use, blasting operations, and access routes. Amidst this ongoing conflict, the situation turned violent when an attempt was made to restart the crusher plant. This killing has raised questions regarding the law-and-order situation in Rajasthan. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot targeted the BJP government in a post on the social media platform X.
