India’s “new eye” in space—36,000 km up—marks a success for the GSLV’s ‘Naughty Boy’ as EOS-05 makes history.

ISRO has successfully launched the EOS-05 imaging satellite using the GSLV-F17 rocket. Positioned in a geosynchronous orbit, EOS-05 will be capable of capturing frequent images of vast areas. This will aid in the surveillance of sensitive regions—including the Pakistan-China border—as well as the monitoring of disasters like floods and cyclones, and the tracking of agricultural and environmental conditions.
