Major crackdown on infiltration in Assam: 17 Bangladeshi nationals arrested; 4 others held for aiding them

A major police operation against illegal infiltration has been reported from Guwahati, Assam. Police arrested 17 Bangladeshi nationals in two separate operations. According to the police, the individuals lacked valid documents to reside in or travel within India. In the first operation, five Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended at Paltan Bazar Railway Station after arriving on the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express. Interrogation revealed that they had entered India via Dawki. The investigation also led to the identification of a hotel where they had stayed.
Subsequently, the police took action against the network allegedly aiding them and arrested four individuals, including the hotel owner and the manager. In a separate operation, another 13 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended at a hotel in Guwahati. According to the police, these individuals had been living in Srinagar for a long time and were attempting to leave India.
