Major Ruling by Allahabad High Court: Order Issued to Conduct Panchayat Elections Within 3 Months

Desk: The Allahabad High Court has delivered a significant verdict regarding the Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh. The court has directed the state government to conduct these elections within three months. Furthermore, it has upheld the government’s decision to appoint the incumbent Gram Pradhans (village heads) as administrators. This means that the current Pradhans will continue to discharge the responsibilities of administrators until the elections are held. A division bench comprising Justice Ajit Kumar and Justice Garima Prasad delivered this ruling following a hearing that lasted nearly three hours. The government’s role in preparing for the Panchayat elections has now become crucial.
