Massive 7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Colombia; Search for Those Trapped Under Rubble Underway
A powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale has caused widespread devastation in the South American nation of Colombia. Buildings have collapsed and roads and bridges have been damaged across several cities in western Colombia, with fears that a large number of people may be trapped under the debris. Tremors were felt as far away as the neighboring country of Ecuador, in addition to the capital, Bogotá. Relief and rescue teams are working continuously to search for survivors amidst the rubble. The massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck on Monday has wreaked havoc in the western part of the country. The quake was so powerful that buildings were damaged in many areas, prompting people to rush out of their homes in search of safety. According to various reports, more than 200 people have lost their lives in this disaster so far.
