New Record Set for Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar: 4.8 Crore Kanwariyas Arrive

The Kanwar Yatra, which began during the month of Sawan, concluded on Shivratri with the ritual offering of water (*Jalabhishek*) to Lord Shiva. A new record for the number of devotees was set during this year’s Kanwar fair. From the beginning of Sawan until the fair’s conclusion, approximately 4.8 crore Kanwariyas visited the holy city of Haridwar. A vast number of Shiva devotees took holy dips at various Ganga *ghats*—including Har Ki Pauri—collected water from the Ganges, and set off towards their respective destinations.
