Heavy rain, waterlogging, and massive traffic jams—Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur are in a state of disarray.

The incessant rain in Delhi has caught everyone off guard; it began with heavy downpours followed by stifling humidity, leaving people in great distress. The situation is such that just 11 days of rainfall are on the verge of matching the average monthly rainfall for the entire month of August; naturally, traffic jams have become inevitable. Roads are clogged for hours, and the situation is grim. If Delhi is struggling, the condition in the metropolis of Mumbai is even worse. Across several cities in Maharashtra, the rain has left commuters stranded in traffic jams for hours—compounded by severe waterlogging. One can gauge the plight of the people by looking at the vehicles stuck in the deluge. Meanwhile, an ‘Orange Alert’ for heavy rain has been issued for six districts in Rajasthan, while a ‘Yellow Alert’ for intense rainfall is in place for 17 districts.
