NIA Court sentences 10 convicts to death in Jhiram Ghati massacre; Congress calls the order a mere formality…

A court has sentenced the convicts to death in the case of the Jhiram Ghati Naxal massacre in Chhattisgarh. The NIA court delivered this verdict 13 years after the incident, in which 27 people were killed on May 25, 2013. The special NIA court in Jagdalpur announced the sentences on Wednesday. Earlier, all 10 accused had been convicted on September 5, 2026, following which the court handed down the death penalty. The court imposed the sentences after convicting the accused under several serious criminal charges related to the Jhiram case. Reactions from Congress leaders have started coming in following the verdict; however, they are not satisfied with the decision, describing the NIA court’s ruling as a mere formality.
