Wild life Crime Control Bureau ne Monday ko Banglore- Lokmanta Tilak Terminus train me travel kar rahe father – Sagiram 40 and his son Vijay 27 ko tortoise ke illegal smuggling ke liye Kalyan Station per arrest kiya.
200 turtles ko Bag me chupaya tha.
Is saal Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) me illegal tortoise smuggling ka ye pahela case darj hua hai.
Ek turtle ki international market Rs. 10000 hai aur in aropi ko 2 years pehle bhi Karnataka forest department ne same jurm me arrest kiya tha.
Indian star tortoise is a protected species under Schedule IV of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and each turtle costs about Rs10,000 in the international market, according to the Wildlife Trust of India.
