SIT report on Ram Mandir donation theft sparks uproar; incidents captured on CCTV

The preliminary investigation report by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding the theft of donations at the Ram Mandir has been released. The report claims that approximately 70 suspected incidents of theft occurred over a period of about 40 days, between April 27 and June 5, 2026. CCTV footage shows staff members concealing bundles of currency notes and cash inside their clothing, pockets, and shoes. The report also highlights serious lapses in security arrangements. While six individuals are under suspicion in this matter, eight people have already been arrested. Following the SIT report, the opposition has launched an attack on the BJP government, whereas the BJP maintains that no culprit will be spared.
