Strike by over 1.5 million bank employees; major protest over PLI and pension issues
The impact of a one-day nationwide strike by bank employees is being felt across the country today. Employees from various banks, including SBI, PNB, and Union Bank, are protesting to demand a five-day banking week. Bank unions are calling for banking operations to be conducted from Monday to Friday, with Saturdays and Sundays designated as weekly off days. Employees state that the demand for a five-day work week has been pending for nearly two years. Additionally, demands have been raised regarding new PLI guidelines, pension updation, a uniform DA formula, and the option for NPS employees to switch to the OPS.
