ISSO National Games Chess Championship 2026 Kicks Off at Adani International School, Ahmedabad; Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa Inspires Young Chess Talents

The ISSO National Games Chess Championship 2026 kicked off with a grand opening on Friday at Adani International School, Ahmedabad. The championship was inaugurated in the presence of Indian chess Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa, along with Namrata Adani—a member of the International Schools Sports Organization (ISSO) advisory board and promoter of Adani International School. Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also attended the event. More than 425 talented young chess players from over 100 schools across more than 10 states are participating in this two-day national championship. The tournament features four key age categories—Under-11, Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19—providing school students from across the country with a fantastic platform to showcase their talent. Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa expressed his delight at the organization of such a major chess tournament at the school level. Gujarat Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi also encouraged the participants and played a friendly game of chess with Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa.
