Student protest in Ranchi enters 20th day; six on hunger strike as pressure mounts on the government

The student protest against alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations in Jharkhand has entered its 20th day. Students remain steadfast at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, pressing for their demands, with six students currently on a hunger strike. They are demanding a CBI inquiry into examinations marred by alleged irregularities—including the 14th JPSC, backlog exams, and JSSC-CGL—as well as reforms to the examination system and the establishment of accountability. Meanwhile, JLKM leader Devendra Mahto has sought permission to return to the protest site from the hospital. Separately, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das has issued a one-week ultimatum to the government, warning that he will go on a hunger strike himself if a CBI inquiry is not recommended.
