Talks between the Jharkhand government and students have failed; students are now preparing to lay siege to the Legislative Assembly, while the BJP has pledged its support.

The student agitation in Jharkhand regarding alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations shows no signs of ending. A third round of talks between the students and the government took place on Sunday. The government claims to have accepted approximately 98% of the students’ demands; however, while the government has agreed to cancel the JPSC Preliminary (PT) exam, no consensus was reached regarding the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL exam. The government maintains that the matter will be investigated under the chairmanship of a retired judge. It argues that since the CGL exam was conducted following directives from the High Court and the Supreme Court, the government lacks the authority to cancel it—it can only order an investigation. Consequently, the students state that their protest will continue due to the refusal to cancel the JSSC-CGL exam. They are now preparing to peacefully lay siege to the Legislative Assembly on Monday.
