Tea drinkers, beware: there are iron filings in your tea leaves!
An investigation by the Food Safety Department has revealed the presence of iron filings—tiny iron particles—as an adulterant in tea samples. In a follow-up operation in the Sahibabad Industrial Area of Ghaziabad, a team from the Food Safety and Drug Administration seized and sealed a stock of 1,860 kilograms of ‘Amar Leaf Tea’. According to reports, the analysis conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Food Analyst detected iron filings in samples of both Amar Leaf Tea and Masala Chai. Following the testing, both samples have been declared unsafe.
