The prospect of a war with Iran has sunk the fortunes of Trump’s party in the midterm elections; J.D. Vance also joins the chorus of dissent.

Following a crushing defeat in the U.S. midterm elections, President Donald Trump’s troubles appear to be mounting. Within the Republican Party itself, voices of rebellion against Trump’s policies have begun to emerge. The potential for a war with Iran, the imposition of tariffs, and a soft stance toward Russian President Vladimir Putin are being cited as reasons for the party’s defeat. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance has also identified the prospect of a war with Iran as a major factor in the loss. Surprisingly, however, despite acknowledging the electoral setback, Trump remains steadfast in his position—insisting that if given another chance, he would still launch an attack on Iran.
