Ahead of the 2027 UP Assembly elections, politics surrounding the Muslim vote bank has intensified. Speaking at a public rally in Tanda, Rampur, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took direct aim at the Congress and the Samajwadi Party. Owaisi declared that the Muslim community would not accept any Nehru, Gandhi, or Yadav as their leader, asserting that they must choose their own leadership. He also urged Muslim youth to join the AIMIM and step forward into the political arena. Following these remarks, both the Congress and the Samajwadi Party hit back. The Congress invoked the legacy and patriotism of the Nehru-Gandhi family, while the Samajwadi Party claimed that the political ideologies of the AIMIM and the BJP are one and the same.
