Uproar in Amer following guide Manish’s death; markets shut, roads blocked, and family adamant on six demands
Jaipur, Rajasthan: Tension gripped the entire area of Amer, Jaipur, after Manish, a guide, died during treatment following a knife attack. Following his death, an agitated crowd forced the closure of markets, blocked the road, and submitted a memorandum of demands to the police. The family and local residents put forward six key demands: ₹1 crore in compensation, a government job for a family member, a Saras Dairy franchise, demolition of the accused’s house using a bulldozer, a trial in a fast-track court, and a ban on illegal jeep operations in Amer. Questions were also raised regarding police functioning, with demands for action against the concerned officials and the provision of security for the victim’s family. While the Guide Association expressed concerns regarding safety, Amer MLA Balmukund Acharya assured the protesters that action would be taken.
