‘Vande Mataram’ Sung for the First Time at the Red Fort on the Occasion of the 80th Independence Day; PM Modi Addresses the Nation

A mass rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ took place for the first time at Delhi’s Red Fort during the 80th Independence Day celebrations. This grand event commemorated the 150-year legacy of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’. Following the rendition, Mi-17 helicopters were seen flying through the sky carrying a ‘Vande Mataram’ banner to mark this 150th anniversary. In his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that ‘Vande Mataram’ was echoing at the Red Fort for the first time since independence. He noted that there could be no better occasion than today—as the people of the country celebrate the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’—for this to happen.
