Anyone who watched Thursday’s match at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium would have been left awestruck by the Indian batsmen’s explosive innings. Facing the Afghanistan team, India dominated so completely that they are drawing praise from all quarters. India defeated Afghanistan by a massive margin of 127 runs—a winning margin that is equivalent to a typical team total in a T20 match. Beyond just the victory, India clinched the series undefeated; they won all three matches of the series. In Thursday’s game, batting first, Abhishek Sharma smashed a century off just 30 balls, ultimately scoring 108 runs off 34 deliveries, while Sanju Samson hit a half-century off 35 balls. Team India posted a mammoth total of 221 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Chasing a target of 222, the entire Afghanistan team crumbled for just 94 runs in 14.1 overs against the lethal bowling attack of the Indians.
