Accused in Lucknow hit-and-run case sent to jail for 14 days; Vishwa Hindu Raksha Parishad intervenes

Shahnawaz, the accused who allegedly attempted to run his car over a young woman in Lucknow on Wednesday morning, is in police custody and undergoing continuous interrogation. Before being produced in court, he was taken to the Chinhat Community Health Centre for a medical examination. The court has subsequently remanded Shahnawaz to judicial custody for 14 days. Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Raksha Parishad has demanded strict action against the accused; representatives of the organization visited the DCP’s office and submitted a memorandum to the ADCP, alleging a case of ‘Love Jihad’.
