The Supreme Court has made a crucial observation regarding individuals who fail to pay fines for traffic violations. The Court suggested that the fine amounts owed by such individuals could be added to their electricity bills. It remarked that merely issuing e-challans is insufficient; the real issue lies in the actual recovery of the fines. This observation was made by a bench comprising Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice KV Viswanathan, which was hearing a petition concerning the electronic enforcement of traffic rules and the recovery of unpaid e-challans.
