After a meeting in Delhi, opposition MPs from the INDIA alliance set out on foot for Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The INDIA alliance held a meeting in the Central Hall of Parliament in Delhi to discuss issues concerning the Election Commission; the gathering was attended by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, and numerous other MPs from the alliance. Following the meeting, opposition MPs launched a scathing attack on the government. Leaders stated they would meet the President to highlight the alleged lapses of Gyanesh Kumar. Rahul Gandhi remarked that it is the collective responsibility of all to protect the rights of the country’s citizens, adding that he is in possession of evidence and that future developments would unfold openly. After the meeting, INDIA alliance MPs marched from the Parliament House to Rashtrapati Bhavan—a march joined by several key opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi. The MPs intend to meet President Droupadi Murmu to voice their concerns regarding the Election Commission’s functioning, voter lists, and the electoral process. In light of the march, stringent security arrangements have been implemented in Delhi, with a heavy deployment of security forces. All eyes are now fixed on the upcoming meeting with the President and the issues the opposition intends to raise. Meanwhile, as INDIA alliance leaders prepare to meet the President, the BJP has characterized this protest as a bid to compete with the Election Commission itself; the BJP argues that the delegation could just as easily have gone to meet Gyanesh Kumar directly, much like they are now going to meet the President.
