A shocking case has emerged from the Mumbai Police Department: approximately ₹6.41 crore was paid as salary during 2019-20 to 10 allegedly fake employees listed on paper. This entire matter came to light about six years later—specifically after a Mumbai Police official lodged a complaint regarding the scam. According to the complaint, 10 non-police individuals were passed off as department employees and received regular salary payments. Police state that the fraudulent salary disbursements occurred primarily in two phases: the first from December 2019 to February 2020, and the second from June 2020 to September 2020. As the issue gained traction, CM Devendra Fadnavis noted that the case dates back to 2020, and action is currently underway.
