Congress outraged over FIR against Rahul Gandhi; issues stern warning to BJP…

An FIR has been registered against Rahul Gandhi—Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha—at the Haldwani Kotwali police station in Uttarakhand. Filed based on a complaint by Amit Kumar, a youth belonging to the Scheduled Caste community, the FIR accuses Rahul Gandhi of hurting the sentiments of the Scheduled Caste community. Reports indicate that the case against him has been registered under Sections 196 and 299 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Following this, Congress workers, led by State Congress President Ganesh Godiyal, arrived at a police station in Dehradun and warned that if the FIR is not withdrawn, they would lay siege to the Secretariat first, followed by the Chief Minister’s residence. Meanwhile, in Haldwani, Uttarakhand’s Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya staged a protest by surrounding the Police Multipurpose Building, and reactions of support for Rahul Gandhi are pouring in from Congress and opposition leaders across the country.
