Eggs thrown and ‘thief’ chants raised at Mamata Banerjee’s rally; BJP takes a dig

Trinamool Congress chief and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee staged a protest on Wednesday regarding the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Baruipur. Since the assembly election defeat, several TMC leaders and MPs have faced protests; in various locations, eggs have been hurled at their leaders, and chants of “thief” have been raised. This high-voltage drama unfolded as Mamata Banerjee’s rally was moving from Ballygunge Phari towards Hazra Crossing. During the procession, TMC and BJP workers came face-to-face. A heated argument ensued, escalating into a scuffle, accompanied by loud chants of “thief.” Meanwhile, BJP leaders have now taken a sharp dig at TMC chief Mamata Banerjee.
