‘Halt attacks on ships immediately’… India takes a firm stand following Indian national’s death; delivers a blunt message to Iran.
India has adopted a stern stance after an Iranian missile attack on UAE oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz resulted in the death of an Indian seafarer and injuries to several others. The Ministry of External Affairs summoned Iran’s Deputy Chief of Mission, Mohammad Javad Hosseini, to New Delhi and lodged a formal protest. India clearly stated that the targeting of commercial vessels traversing international maritime routes must cease immediately. These developments come at a time when tensions between the US and Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz are steadily escalating.
