Hemant Soren government accedes to students’ demands; BJP says it is too little, too late—and what about the CBI probe?
Amidst the uproar over alleged rigging and irregularities in competitive examinations in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has taken a decisive step. Following massive student protests and persistent commotion in the Legislative Assembly, the Hemant government has announced the immediate cancellation of all examinations conducted by the controversial private agency TDPL, along with its entire recruitment process. CM Hemant Soren stated that every error—major or minor—dating back to 2014 would be investigated. Additionally, the cabinet has decided to cancel the JSSC-CGL examination. Students are elated by CM Hemant Soren’s announcement, with many seen dancing and setting off fireworks; however, the BJP has also reacted to the state government’s decision. According to the BJP, the students have defeated an arrogant CM through Gandhian methods, but the battle is only half-won, as a CBI inquiry is still pending.
