Impact of Nepal’s devastation reaches India; Gandak-Narayani rivers affected; flood risk in border districts

There is a growing apprehension that the impact of the devastating floods in Nepal will reach India’s border states. Nepal has witnessed massive destruction following the surge of the Bhote Koshi River in the Rasuwa region. This situation could affect several districts in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Water levels in the Gandak, Narayani, and other rivers are being continuously monitored. Alerts have been issued for several districts in Bihar, while the administration remains vigilant in border areas of UP such as Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, and Siddharthnagar. NDRF and SDRF teams are also on standby. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to exercise utmost vigilance and remain prepared to tackle the flood situation.
