In Punjab, Amit Shah burns an effigy of the ‘Ravana of Drugs’ and takes aim at Bhagwant Mann…

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is taking a highly proactive stance against the drug menace in Punjab; this marks his second visit to the state within 20 days. In Ludhiana, Amit Shah set fire to an effigy representing the ‘Ravana of Drugs’ (specifically ‘chitta’—a local term for synthetic drugs). The effigy stood 121 feet tall and was incinerated by Shah at the press of a remote-controlled button. Through this act, he sought to send a stern message against drug abuse. Prior to this, Shah visited the home of Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, where he acceded to the family’s demand for a CBI investigation. He assured the family that a CBI team would arrive in Mansa by 12:00 PM on Wednesday and that the case would be resolved within 120 days. Following his meeting with the family, Shah traveled to Ludhiana, where he launched an attack on the state government and pledged to spearhead the BJP’s campaign against the drug crisis.
