Water levels of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers in Prayagraj are steadily rising. Both rivers are surging rapidly, and several major ghats have been completely submerged. At Rasulabad Ghat, the river water has reached the upper sections of the cremation ground. An increase of 19 to 23 centimeters in the water levels of the Ganga and Yamuna has been recorded over the past 24 hours. Water is now moving from the riverine tracts towards low-lying areas, heightening concerns among residents of the riverside localities. Although all embankments in the district remain secure and the rate of the rise in water levels has slowed slightly, the threat of flooding in Prayagraj persists.
