Supreme Court-level scrutiny for inflammatory Maulana; ” ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ slogan a threat to the nation”

The Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail plea of Maulana Tauqir Raza Khan regarding the Bareilly violence case of September 2025. The Court clearly stated that the slogans raised during the riots pose a challenge to national integrity and cannot be classified as mere religious sloganeering. On September 8, 2026, the Allahabad High Court dismissed the bail application of Maulana Tauqir Raza Khan, founder of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council. Tauqir has been in judicial custody since September 27, 2025; he was imprisoned following the violent incidents that occurred in Bareilly on September 26, 2025. During the hearing of this case, the High Court observed that the chanting of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ during traditional religious events cannot be equated with slogans like ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ (beheading) raised during protests; the Court further termed the ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ slogan a threat to India’s freedom.
