Supreme Court permits bursting of ‘green’ firecrackers in Delhi-NCR for two days during Diwali; BJP welcomes the ‘supreme’ verdict.
The Supreme Court has granted permission to burst ‘green’ firecrackers in the Delhi-NCR region on November 7 and 8, 2026. The Court has clarified that a complete ban on firecrackers—as was previously in place—will resume from November 9. In Delhi-NCR, firecrackers may only be burst between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM, and between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The Supreme Court has prohibited the bursting of firecrackers within a 300-meter radius of hospitals, nursing homes, primary or district health centers, old-age homes, and designated ‘silence zones.’ Meanwhile, the BJP has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal stated that this verdict has, in fact, brought a significant opportunity for those who follow the Sanatan Dharma.
