Supreme Court Refuses to Hear Plea; Bharat Tiwari Case Battle to Shift to Patna High Court
The Supreme Court has declined to hear a petition seeking a CBI inquiry into the high-profile encounter case of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari in Bihar, directing the petitioner to approach the Patna High Court instead. The petition had sought the formation of an expert committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge, the registration of an FIR against the police personnel involved in the encounter, a CBI investigation, and compensation for the victim’s family. The family alleges that Bharat Tiwari had surrendered, yet he was shot.
