The Karnataka Congress government’s order regarding a ‘truncated Vande Mataram’ has drawn a fierce attack from the BJP…
The issue of *Vande Mataram* has now heated up the political atmosphere in the country. The Congress government has issued a new directive concerning the national song, *Vande Mataram*, for state government events. Under this order, only the first two stanzas of the song will be sung at such functions. The Karnataka government stated that this decision was taken to ensure uniformity, dignity, and adherence to proper protocol regarding the singing and playing of the national song, given the diverse nature of government events held in the state. The BJP has reacted furiously to this order. The party alleges that the Congress is insulting *Vande Mataram*, the nation, and the Parliament. Meanwhile, Congress and opposition leaders are hitting back, telling the BJP not to issue certificates of patriotism to the Congress, noting that the BJP did not even exist at the time of independence.
