Yogi’s sharp remarks on Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary; labels Samajwadi Party’s mindset as ‘Bimaru’
The political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh has heated up on the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. In Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to Patel by offering flowers at his statue and unveiled the ‘Patel Smarika-2026’ (Patel Souvenir-2026). During the event, the opposition remained the primary target of his criticism. Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi remarked, “How could those who revere Jinnah ever respect Patel?” He further cautioned that divisions based on caste and region pose a threat to national unity. At another event, Yogi questioned the mindset of the Samajwadi Party, alleging that previous administrations had reduced Uttar Pradesh to a ‘Bimaru’ (ailing/backward) state.
