“Even Modi’s father will go… to hell”—why did Mallikarjun Kharge lash out in such a fit of rage? The BJP responds: This is unacceptable.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge lost his temper—appearing completely incensed—to the point where he abandoned all decorum in his language. His remarks are now circulating widely on social media. The incident occurred on Sunday in Patna, Bihar, during an event marking the 139th birth anniversary of Dr. Shrikrishna Singh, the first Chief Minister of Bihar. As Kharge was addressing the gathering, an individual in the auditorium began shouting slogans in support of Prime Minister Modi. Kharge was visibly angered, and a commotion ensued. It is alleged that the individual was assaulted; as he was being removed from the venue, he shouted, “Modi won’t go [anywhere]!” to which Kharge retorted, “Even Modi’s father will go!” The BJP has reacted with intense outrage to this statement.
